When you meet Sharon from Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C., one thing becomes clear: she means business. With military-level organization and a heart full of passion, Sharon leads the charge in planning her church’s annual women’s retreat—and for years, she’s chosen Pecometh as their sacred getaway space.
The Power of Relationships
Ask Sharon why retreats matter, and she doesn’t hesitate.
“Retreats are valuable events that require good servant leaders to foster relationships and grow,” she says.
And that’s exactly what this retreat is all about: building relationships. In fact, that’s how she discovered Pecometh in the first place. A former summer staff member who now attends Foundry recommended checking it out—and from that moment on, a new connection was born.
A Place That Feels Like Home
At Pecometh, we believe relationships are everything too. That shared value is part of what makes our partnership with Foundry UMC so special.
Sharon has never been shy about giving us feedback—and we’re proud to say, it’s glowing.
“Pecometh has Event Planning 101 down pat,” she shared. “Your communication is off the charts.”
From the moment their group arrives, the women of Foundry feel cared for. They consistently praise our welcoming staff, delicious meals, and thoughtful attention to dietary needs. According to them, our food and hospitality are “head and shoulders above” other retreat centers.
More Than a Getaway
For Sharon and her team, the Riverview Retreat Center offers more than just a pretty space and good food. It’s a place designed to spark connection and deepen relationships—especially for a group that welcomes new participants every year.
Whether it’s a spiritual breakthrough, a new friendship, or a program idea born around a cozy fire, the retreat opens doors. Women find others walking a similar spiritual path, living nearby, or simply craving the same kind of meaningful connection.
Close to the City, Closer to Each Other
Sharon loves the peacefulness of the property and its convenient proximity to Washington, D.C. But more than anything, she loves the space Pecometh creates—for dance parties, deep discussions, and everything in between.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside Sharon, her team, and the women of Foundry UMC each year. It’s always a joy to see new friendships bloom and communities grow stronger, one retreat at a time.
