ABOUT US

Since 1946, Pecometh has been a Sanctuary for Life-Changing Experiences

Nestled along the scenic Chester River near Centreville, Maryland, Pecometh Camp & Retreat Ministries has been providing transformative experiences through camps, retreats, and outdoor programs for over 75 years. Partnering with the hundreds of churches of the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church, we serve people of all ages and backgrounds, offering a place to play, learn, and grow for a lifetime.

WHO WE ARE

Pecometh is more than just a camp—it’s a sacred space where people from all walks of life can deepen their connection with God and one another. We welcome campers, retreat guests, and visitors year-round to experience fellowship, spiritual growth, and the beauty of God’s creation. Rooted in Christian values, we aim to create a Christ-centered environment that fosters discipleship, leadership, and a commitment to God’s work.

OUR HISTORY

Pecometh’s story began in 1946 when a group of Methodist clergy and laypersons came together with a vision to create a Christian camp on the shores of the Chester River. They purchased 10 acres at “Bookers Wharf,” a former bustling barge port turned local recreation area. The name "Pe-Co-Meth" was chosen through a contest, blending the first syllables of the Peninsula Conference of the Methodist Church, and the hyphenated name remained until it evolved into the Pecometh we know today.

From these humble beginnings, Pecometh grew into a thriving ministry, expanding its land, facilities, and programs. Today, it remains a place where people of all ages experience God-inspired, life-changing moments in a peaceful, natural setting.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by offering Christ-centered peace and play in our unique Eastern Shore setting. Whether through summer camps for children, retreats for adults, or outdoor activities for families, Pecometh’s ministry aims to create lasting spiritual impact.
