Pecometh Story: Taking A Walk

After graduating high school, Carolyn went to work for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Delaware (Currently known as Highmark BCBSDE). Her last few years working there, she sensed God calling her to go to seminary. Not understanding why, she pursued the call.

Shortly after beginning seminary, she started attending and joined Cornerstone UMC. A couple from the small group approached Carolyn about attending the “Walk to Emmaus” weekend, a retreat that would shape her future.

This was the first time she was introduced to Camp Pecometh. Carolyn made connections with Christians who were not from her culture or denomination, but were connected in the body of Christ. Being in an environment like Pecometh allowed them to have great conversations and share from their hearts.

Carolyn was asked to serve on an Emmaus team, and she said yes. She wanted others to experience the connection she felt on the grounds of Pecometh, the feeling of the presence of the Lord.

Not long after her Emmaus Walk, the doors opened wide for her to step into full time ministry. She, is now Rev. Carolyn Williams, presently serving Richardson Park U M C, Wilmington Delaware. Her church family supports Pecometh so others will experience love, connection, new friendships and fellowship the same way she did.
