Are You Leaving Money on the Table?

AdobeStock_183722982.jpegHow many of your church members have passed away without including the church in their will?

Even if you don’t know the number, we know the reason why this occurs. They were never asked.

“Leaving money on the table” is an idiom which means not getting as much money as you could.”  Of course I do not mean money for you, but for the faithful ministry you are doing.

As a pastor or church leader, you want to know you’ve done everything you can to advance the ministry and mission to which God called you.  In that effort, one of the most over-looked assets we have is the support people may be willing to give through Planned Giving.

First there are some things you should know.

  • Baby boomers are now at the beginning of the retirement phase of life.
  • At this time $12 trillion is being transferred from the Greatest Generation to the Baby Boomer generation. Over the next 30 to 40 years $30 trillion of assets will be transferred from the boomers to the next generation.
  • Christians hold 55% of the world’s assets.
  • Church attenders on average hold more assets than non-attenders.

As a pastor or church leader you may want to consider this.

  • The boomers (born 1946-1964) in your church have been involved for decades in a church relationship.
  • The church values a sense of community, even family in some cases.
  • The size of most churches is small enough that people know how money is managed.
  • Some churches have visions on hold for lack of the funds to turn those visions into reality.
  • Some churches have put missions and/or building maintenance on hold for survival purposes.

Here is an opportunity for you.  You may have one or two, or more, in your congregation who would leave a bequest, or provide some other form of planned gift to your church, if asked.  Pecometh Camp & Retreat Ministries can help. As Pecometh Director of Planned Giving, I can help you to reach church members who would consider including your church in their will or trust. This is NOT a solicitation for Pecometh. It is a way to help you ensure that those who love God and your church are given the opportunity to leave a legacy.

Contact me at dave@pecometh.org or (302) 382-5359 if you’d like discuss this in further detail.

This Planned Giving offer is not a promotion of Pecometh, but a service of Pecometh in our common ministry together.
