3 Retreat Programs to Help Your Church Thrive

We can all think of areas of ministry in our churches that could use some retooling. This summer Pecometh is offering three programs that we think will help church leaders breathe new life into three areas of church life: stewardship, corporate worship, and prayer. Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the challenges that seem to keep your church from thriving?

If you do, you’re not alone!

You have probably already thought of an area or two in your ministry that could use some attention, but you might not be sure where to start.

If you are looking to jump start stewardship, worship, or prayer in your church, we might be able to help!

Before you even get to Pecometh, these retreats can help you do two important things: take time and develop a team.

Taking Time

We’re often so busy keeping things going, that we don’t feel that we have the time to devote to the important tasks of reflecting on what we’re currently doing, perfecting what’s working, and coming up with new ideas.

Even worse, sometimes we aren’t taking enough time to listen for how God is leading us to innovate in our ministries!

Each of these upcoming retreats is an opportunity to spend time apart with other people who are tackling some of the same types of ministry challenges as you are.

At these retreats, experienced facilitators will share wisdom from their own ministry experiences, and your time together will draw out wisdom from fellow particpants as well.

After all, sometimes what clergy and church leaders need most is a chance to hear new ideas (or even to go back and review what they already know!) From there you’ll naturally start dreaming up new ideas of your own!

Developing a Team

Believe it or not, the pastor can’t do everything! For that matter, one well-chosen lay person can’t run a whole ministry area on his or her own either.

It’s hard for one person to come up with new and creative ideas in a vacuum. Creating a team is a great way to share the workload. It also means that there are other people to bounce ideas off of!

Each of these programs is open to clergy and lay people – we recommend bringing a team from your church!  That way, you and your team will be ready to hit the ground running when you get back to your congregation.

This summer, we invite you to take the time to bring a team to one (or more of these three programs):

Come and See! Staying With Jesus

Spiritual renewal through holistic stewardship

Date: July 8 – 9, 2016 (Friday – Saturday)

Financial issues in the small church are as much about spiritual vitality as they are about declining numbers.

Pecometh’s former Director of Development, Dave Buchanan, has worked for decades with small churches that are facing serious financial shortfalls in operating income and/or are in need of an unusually large amount of money to fund a building or ministry project. This retreat lays the foundation for such an effort.

Creative Worship Design Retreat

Date: July 22 – 23, 2016 (Friday – Saturday)

Facilitated by: Pastors Kari and Alan Jones
                       Barry Wiseman, Creative Arts Director

Are you ready to take your worship service to a new level? Come alone or bring your team and learn how to design compelling worship with an impact. You will learn the planning process along with low cost resources and come away with a worship plan for September through Christmas.

River of Life: Reviving Prayer

Date: September 13 – 15, 2016 (Tuesday – Thursday)

Facilitated by: Rev. Kay Lanasa

Come to the river to reflect on how you are listening for the voice of God. This retreat is an invitation to experience the transforming power of prayer and the renewal and healing that come from praying in community. Take your prayer life deeper – and share it with others!
