Growing Young

Learn. Engage. Apply. Do.
Combining the best parts of our former Director’s Leadership Week and Staff-in-Training programs, our new LEAD program will prepare participants for everyday leadership in their churches, communities, organizations, and at camp. With a choice of two learning tracks and mentoring and skills development sessions throughout the year, this program is an essential opportunity for aspirational youth.
Once camper registration opens, prospective participants will have the opportunity to submit their applications and reference during an open period beginning in the fall, with program invitations arriving by June. Sessions will be once a month beginning in August 2022, starting with community building and moving into skills development.
All participants will attend a week of camp together in the summer. The schedule will combine experiential education opportunities, such as low and high ropes on the Challenge Course, with development sessions to identify strengths, build on areas of growth, and develop strategies for effective leadership within the organizations they plan to serve. Of course, there will be some camp fun in there, too! After their first week of camp, the two learning tracks will continue their learning in the different ways described below.
Pick a Track:
CAMP:
Campers in the CAMP Track will attend a second week of camp immediately after their first week. They will focus on learning how to serve as a leader at camp and related environments. They will gain an understanding of Christian leadership/follower-ship, behavioral management, and camp leader dynamics.
Also during the second week, CAMP Track participants will be paired with experienced summer staff mentors, work directly with camper groups, and participate in duty rotations, serving in a variety of camp roles to experience each area.
COMMUNITY:
The COMMUNITY Track is designed for the camper who wants to work within their local church or organization and community. They will gain skills to further their drive to take a more active role within their community and church,
After their week at camp, COMMUNITY Track participants will continue to attend monthly webinars designed to help them continue their training. They will have adult mentors guiding them throughout the entire process.
All participants must be sponsored by a church or other community organization. Fees are paid in full by the sponsoring organization or in partnership with Pecometh.
July 17-22, 2022 and July 24-29, 2022 (CAMP Track Only)
All-inclusive program fee: $599
